2. You will need a diaper pail; I have found a tall garbage can with a lid will work perfectly!! You can also buy washable pail liners to use in the trash can.
3. A small wet bag for outings. To carry soiled diapers!
You are ready to go! Remember you can mix and match cloth diapering systems! It is what works for your baby! Below are some accessories that I have found very useful. These are optional and not necessary to cloth diaper, but have made cloth diapering simple!
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES:
~Mini Shower or Flushable Liners: If you are exclusively breastfeeding your baby, you will not have to worry about this accessory because breastfed poop is water soluble! But once you introduce solids or any sort of formula, you might want to reconsider. I found the mini shower about 4 months after cloth diapering, it was such a relief! Instead of dunking, I now use the diaper sprayer for a quick high pressure spray to get the big “poops” cleaned!! And the hubby loves this, it is a favorite for him because of the quick clean ups! The Diaper Sprayers are $38.95.
Another great find was flushable liners. These are great for traveling or outings. Easy to use and easy clean up when you are in a hurry. If your baby soils their diaper, the liner will catch the poop and you just pick up the liner and flush down your toilet. They are biodegradable! For a pack of 100 is $6.95!
~Diaper Pail Liners are a great accessory to store your soiled/dirty diapers. You can place the liner in a tall garbage can or if you are traveling some liners can hang on the doorknob. You can wash and dry your pail liner with all your diapers. They make laundry days pretty easy because you don’t have to touch day old diapers, you can just empty the diapers from the pail liner directly into the wash and then throw the pail liner in the wash too!
~Cloth Wipes are another money saver! Reusable wipes are a great alternative to disposable wipes. I love using cloth wipes, I am already washing diapers and why not add these? I really don’t want to sort out dirty disposable wipes from a dirty diaper!
~Cloth Diaper Friendly Detergent is a must when cloth diapering! I love Country Save Detergent, but there are a lot of safe detergents to use with your diapers. Please read The Diaper Jungle’s complete cloth diaper detergent chart!
~Wet Bag for Travel! This bag will have multiple uses as your child grows. You can use it to store soiled diapers, wet clothes, bathing suits or anything!! It is a great accessory to have. I have been using mine for over 2 years and it works like a champ!
