Motherlove Nipple Cream

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Are you a nursing mama? Well, this post is specifically for you! I wanted to share a little about my nursing experience. I was determined to nurse, determined being a true understatement. I was not going to go any other way, but nurse my son. When I delivered my baby, I was looking forward to the perfect latch right after delivery….Well, it didn’t happen. I just could not get the latch right and I was very disappointed, but I kept working with him to find that “perfect latch”. Thank goodness for Lactation Consultants, I worked with mine for almost 1 1/2 months before my baby actually latched on my nipple! I was actually pumping and syringe feeding Hudson until we had success. I was so happy I stuck with it, even through the mastitis the chills, the fever, yuck! But I would never want anything different. Determination pays off and if you stick with it you can do it! That is my background for nursing my baby and I can’t wait to nurse more!

I did encounter a lot of soreness and cracked nipples, especially in the beginning!! It was so uncomfortable, but I found some products that did work for me. I wanted to share some information that I don’t think a lot of nursing moms know about, well maybe they do! I didn’t! The majority of Nipple Creams in the supermarket contain Lanolin which contains several pesticides! Motherlove Nipple Cream does not contain lanolin; or Vitamin E which should not be ingested by infants. According to the Skin Deep toxicology database, Vitamin E is considered a health concern by the Amierican Hospital Formulary Service because it can cause liver dysfunction and is “potentially fatal” to low birth weight babies. Motherlove’s Nipple Cream is a necessity for new moms. I never realized just how sore my nipples would be while nursing, no one ever tells you this might happen! Keep this cream handy in your diaper bag! You can use it before you give birth and use it after! It forms a protective barrier that locks in moisture and keeps nipples hydrated and supple. And for nipples that are already cracked, Motherlove’s Nipple Cream will help spped the healing process and prevent further discomfort. This is one product you will glad to have around, trust me!!!

Guest Post: Heather M. meet a new cloth diapering mama….

My baby's in fluff!

I am a brand new Cloth Diapering momma.  And have to say, it is WONDERFUL.  One of  the reasons why I wanted to make the switch to cloth was cost savings. My first purchase were bumGenius 3.0 Pocket Diapers.  I LOVE them! The pocket style is so easy to use and keeps my 8 week old son’s bum dry. The feature that I like best about the bumGenius is the wicking power, bumGenius has a stay dry layer which allows moisture to go through and keeps my son’s bum dry!! It works wonders! And because they are one size, I am also using them for my 23 month old daughter at night and adding one microfiber booster to the diaper. It keeps her dry all night which is fantastic because she sleeps 12 hours or longer.

I have also recently purchased the Flip Stay Dry System and I cannot say enough good things about these diapers. The reusable one size covers are awesome and so easy to use.  As long as my son doesn’t have a blowout, the cover is used over and over.  I have gotten 4 diaper changes out of just one cover.  But even with a blowout, he has never had a leak.  I can also use these for my daughter! I never in a million years thought I would use cloth diapers, but now that I am, I couldn’t imagine going back to disposables!  They are easy to use, easy to wash, and GREAT for my kids.  I have already talked two of my disposable using friends into cloth diapering their kids.

Another leap I have taken in the cloth diaper world is switching to reusable cloth wipes!   I have been making my wipes solution using  Booty Cubes. You simply dissolve a couple of cubes in water and they smell great!  There are so many different fragrances yet very very gentle on my children’s bottoms and faces.  I will recommend cloth diapering to all my friends and hope that people ask me about the cute covers while out, so I can share in my new hobby!  Happy diapering!

Disney World!

Friday, March 19th, 2010

March is one of my favorite months out of the year. It marks the beginning of spring and also the month my son was born. March is very special to my heart. This year we had no plans for Hudson’s birthday, I really have no clue what to do in terms of parties or anything like that! We have so many “things” already and we do not need more! So, we decided last minute to take a weekend trip to Walt Disney World! I am so glad we did, the memories we made there were so special and I will never forget them! We had so much fun and Hudson absolutely loved “Peter Pan’s flight”. He is obsessed with the book and makes us read it to him every night, well it is a long book so we only get so far every night. He loves the stories about the children, the island and well, never growing up. He told me today “Mama I don’t want to grow up”….. It was so sweet. I said “I don’t want you to either, but you will always be my baby”.

Here are some fun photos of our trip!!! Check out the snackTaxi’s in use!!!

Thank you for all who submitted some super cute photos on Facebook! I love all the “green” fluff! So sweet!!! My son and I picked the winner, well more like my son. I showed him all the pictures and he looked at this one and said: “Mama, so pretty” “Mama, so pretty” and he kept saying this over and over and pointing to this picture! I think he picked a great picture!

Congratulations to Ms. J and her little cutie pie! Thank You for playing!
